LONG ILLNESS IS FATAL TO MRS. J. F. GRAMPS
Mrs. Cora Ellen Gramps, age 48 years, wife of J. F. Gramps, died at 11:30
o'clock this morning at the family home, 257 South Washington street,
following an eight months illness.
She was born at Hamilton, Ind. near Indianapolis, on Dec. 18, 1885 a
daughter of James and Rebecca (Hurst) Wheeler.
She was united in marriage in 1905 to J. F. Gramps. The family resided at
Kouts for twenty years before moving to Valparaiso in 1925.
Surviving besides the husband are six children; Mrs. Murel Hartin, of
Valparaiso, Mrs. Mary Shoen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, John James, Hilton LaForrest,
Byron and Miriam Jean at home. She also leaves one grandson, Alvin Gene
Hartin; one bother Manson Wheeler, of Momence, Ill. and one sister Mrs.
Bethel Starley, of Kouts.
Mrs. Gramps was a member of College City Camp No. 3122, Royal Neighbor; the
Valparaiso Women's Club and the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced
tomorrow.
This newspaper was faded and difficult to read. I check the newspaper for
the next three days and did not find any additional information on the
funeral. I did find another article about her son, John, who was killed when
he was hit by a train. That occurred in 1936. If you are on
