I asked, because I thought you might already have this information.
No, I'm not related to the Svanberg/Johnson family.
For some reason, rootsweb won't let me attach files to the message.
If you send an email to me at taltos017(a)yahoo.com, I will email them back to you.
I have 4 obituaries: Josefine, her husband, their son Albert, and their daughter Lydia.
I also have census records from St. Joseph county, Indiana.
I hope I have the right family!! Their seems to be some confusion as to whether
Josefine's husband was named Albert or Alfred. There also seems to be some confusion
as to the identity of the Lydia Johnson in the obituary. Alfred (Albert?) and Josefine
had a daughter named Lydia, who was born in September of 1895, according to the census
records. According to the Social Security Death Index, a woman named Lydia Johnson, who
was born in September of 1895 and lived in St. Joseph County, Indiana, died in January of
1973. I found the obituary in the South Bend Tribune, dated 25 January 1973. However, the
obituary says Lydia is the widow of Alfred Johnson, not his daughter. She is also listed
as his widow in the South Bend City Directories after his death. The obituary also gives
her age as 71, which puts her birth year as about 1902, which doesn't agree with the
Social Security Death Index. UNLESS, there were two people named Lydia Johnson in South
Bend, one of whom was Alfred's!
daughter, the other his second wife, and they both died in January 1973. This seems
unlikely. The other possibility is that Alfred and Josefine's son, Albert, married
someone named Lydia, and it is HER obituary, not the daughter of Alfred and Josefine.
I'll let you figure it all out!
Regards,
Chris Kovach
