Taken from the May 18, 1894 South Bend Times:
Anna M. McENDARFER, daughter of Benjamin and Anna M. BAUER, was born in Northumberland
county, Pa. June 19, 1810. In the year 1826, she was married to Christian HARMAN, who
died one year after their union.
In 1829 she was again united in marriage with John McEndarfer at Osnaburg, Stark county,
Ohio, who departed this life August 23, 1886. The fruit of their union was six children,
of whom three, one daughter and two sons, have preceded them in death.
Three sons, Adam HARMAN, Eli McEndarfer and Allen McEndarfer twelve grand children,
nineteen great grandchildren and a host of friends remain to mourn her loss. She died May
12, 1894, at 2 p.m. at the home of her youngest son, Allen McEndarfer, at the ripe age of
83 years, 9 months and 17 days. Grandmother McEnderfer as she was familiarly called, was
one of the pioneers of Liberty township. Her husband was one of the founders of St.
John's Lutheran church nearly seventy years ago, and was faithful unto death.
Monday fornoon, after appropriate services, held at the house and St. John's church,
Rev. M.L. PETER officiating, her body was laid in the silent house in the Lutheran
cemetary, in the sure and certain hope of the general resurrection in the last day, and
last day to come, through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
