I've wondered the same thing! I wrote and asked some web owners in Ohio and
haven't received their responses yet. Maybe I don't need their answers since
I thought about it all day and came to a logical conclusion (at least to
myself!)
Carl probably has it right on -- improved transportation. I was wondering if
land deals and work in Indiana were an enticement. As I look at my own
family, the whole family never left an area at one time. One adventuresome
spirit would head west, whether just one state over, or across many states.
Some other family members would eventually follow when they felt secure about
making the move. That pioneer spirit has made this country what it is!
It's funny how so many people got all the way to the west coast for a better
life and lately many are turning back east! I'm in Denver and our increased
population because of these people has made a noticeable impact -- good &
bad! Hopefully, maybe we'll see people tiring of it and moving onward to the
east. I plan on doing just that when the day comes that I won't feel the
ties that hold me here right now. I'd love to come back to Indiana or Ohio
and have the water, lush vegetation, breathable air, and breathing room
again!
I have this theory that the day will come when many people will be leaving
the states to return to their ancester's homeland (or where ever!). What's
everyone else think?
I miss St. Joe County!
