NEW CARLISLE, Ind., Feb. 12--The University Literary association will meet Monday
night at the home of J. G. Mills.
The six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley died of diphtheria Saturday. The
remains were taken to Plymouth, Ind., for interment. Mrs. Ashley and two children, who
have been afflicted with the same disease, are recovering.
Phillip Bruch died suddenly Monday with hemorrhage of the lungs. He was a soldier in
the late rebellion and a member of Deacon post, G. A. R. His age was about 64 years. He
leaves a wife, one son and one daughter. The funeral service was held at the residence,
corner of Arch and Chestnut streets, at 2 p. m. Thursday, conducted by Rev. G. B. Van
Arsdall. Interment in the New Carlisle cemetery.
Miss Lou Deavitt, formerly of this place, who has resided in Denver, Col., the past
four years, is visiting in town and vicinity.
