Hal and the rest of the list;
I sincerely apologize for passing on erroneous information about the Studebaker family.
The information came to me recently from a fellow list administrator and descendant of
Samuel Arnold whom I normally consider as a trustworthy genealogy source. Apparently, the
person got his/her names mixed up in reference to Clement Studebaker. How this came about
was that I reposted the biography of Clem Studebaker to another list I administer and
that's how this person contacted me. This is the same biography that I posted here
sometime back.
Its nice to know that there's a descendant of the Studebaker family on this list!
This is a family that I have greatly admired for a long time. The city of South Bend
probably wouldn't be what it is today without them.
Again, thank you for the correction. :-)

I am a Studebaker descendant. I question the information in the above
message. Henry and Clem's father was John Clement Studebaker who died in 1877 in
South Bend and is buried in the South Bend cemetery.
Samuel Arnold was appointed guardian to 20 year-old Peter B. Studebaker in
1769. Peter was third son of Clement Studebaker, migrant to PA from Germany.
Clement was the great grand father of Henry and Clem.
