Andrea, there are three other sources of this information:
1. County Clerks office and Health department - this is where the original data is
stored.
2. WPA Transcriptions: During the Depression, the Works Projects Administration employed
thousands of people to transcribe records stored in the County Clerk's offices and
Health Departments. These WPA transcriptions can be found in most libraries with
Genealogy Collections. Some are published on CDs and some of these transcriptions can be
found on the USGenWeb county sites.
2. Microfilm: Over the years the LDS has microfilmed a vast majority of these County
records. The microfilms are available through the LDS Family History Centers. The Allen
County Public Library in Fort Wayne can access these microfilms. In most cases they will
not have these on their shelves, but they can be ordered. Again, some USGenWeb county
sites have transcribed these films.
