Seeking information on the ancestors and descendants of the following
persons of Polish heritage from St. Joseph County, South Bend area:
1) Krzysztaf WYKSA [known as "Chris VEXEL" in USA], born about 1885 in
either Poland or the USA, died 8 June 1944 in South Bend, IN; 2) His wife,
Marjanna [Mary Anna/Marie] WYKSA/VEXEL, born Marjanna MAZUREK in village
Komorze, district Jarocin, province Poznan, Poland in abt. 1885; daughter of
Franciszek [Frank] MAZUREK and wife Franciszka LAKOMA/LAKOMSKA; Marjanna
emigrated to the US with parents in abt. 1890-91 (to NJ, PA and then IN);
married Krysztaf WYKSA (Chris VEXEL) in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County,
Pennsylvania in 1906. Believed to have died abt 1919 in South Bend, St.
Joseph County (or the immediate area.);
3) Chris and Mary Anna/Marie VEXEL's son, Edward Joseph VEXEL, b. 12 January
1910 (probably in South Bend), died in Roseland, IN 6 May 1953. Wife Lena
THIESZ, b. 10 January 1911, location unknown; married 19 July 1930 in St.
Joseph County. Lena VEXEL d. 23 March 1953 in South Bend [?]. Edward's
siblings are Stanley VEXEL and Helen VEXEL [m. ZAJAC].
4) Edward and Lena VEXEL's daughter, Dolores ("Dolly") J. VEXEL, b. 1932 in
St. Joseph County; married Donald KAEDER in 1953, four children; all events
likely occurred in St. Joseph County.
I am a descendant of Marjanna MAZUREK VEXEL's half-sister, Sophia BARANOWSKA
(1904-1985), and have information to share on the MAZUREK & LAKOMA families'
roots in Poland. Any information on the above greatly appreciated---Thank
