holderman? I am doing research on my aunt's side of the holderman
surname--they were from Indiana --I like your explanation and if ok, will
use it with my research --now about the holderman's I am told sometime back
their was a name change Haldeman to Holderman --the person I have been
researching is Charles Clayton Holderman, DOB October 15, 1878 (Marshall
County, Indiana) parents were Jacob W. Holderman and Lucinda Studay--I
believe Charles had at least one sibling Matilda Holderman--any connection?
thanks bill

Subject: Re: [INSTJOSE] Fw: migration to St. Joseph Co. in 1833
Hi listers!
Since so many have asked about the migrations of the 1820s and 1830s, I
thought I would ask about the migration of Mennonites from Ohio and points
east in the late 1840s. Can anyone suggest a book that might shed some light
on this migration? My wife's Holde(r)man family was part of this group of
Mennonites originating in PA, arriving in northern Ohio in 1812, and moving
on to northern Indiana in 1848. The Holdermans settled in both St. Joseph
Co.
and Elkhart Co.
