Subject: [INSTJOSE] I have put my Cemetery Lists out there for everyone!!!
Hey all you family diggers...and I mean that in the truest terms....
I am in the process of gathering my cemetery transcriptions and donateing
them to the following site. I started doing these cemeteries back in
about
1963, in Berrien and Cass counties. At first I started with those
little
burial grounds that had been forgotten and were little known. I have
tramped
through more thickets and poison ivy than I care to think about.
My tools were a soft broom, clay, chalk, shovels and the ever present
"poker"
(used for probing the ground) paper and pencil. My mentors were Amos
Green,
Harvey Franz and Wilbur Cunningham. They taught me how to approach
this
labor of love with the archeologist mind. I was in the Archeological Soc.
with them and I think they would be proud of what I have done. I know my
daughters are thankful I am not hauling them from one dark place to
another.
Lunch is fun in the shade of a 100 year old tomb stone. Oh the tales
they
could tell.
I hope and pray that they are helpful to all those who have roots in
Berrien
County.
I truly feel we must keep family research free and be a help to each
other.
Also I wish to thank Brenda Sears for the opportunity to do this and
giving
me the platform. I hope that it will encourage many others to donate
also.
Hey why not start a little circle of GIVERS TO THE FUTURE !!!!!
