My name is Irvin Morse. I am a volunteer researcher for the local genealogical society.
I was unable to find a death record for John Strom.
If I have the correct John Strom, his mother was Josephine and his wife was Erna Neuman.
John appears in the 1910 census with his mother. The last record I found was in a 1916
city directory where he appeared with his wife.
His mother died in 1914 and was buried from St Stephen's Church and in the Cedar Grove
(Notre Dame) Cemetery. I did not find John in either the church or the cemetery records.
His wife married in Oct of 1916. Her marriage application states that her 1st husband
died in 1916. She divorced this man and married a Clarence Snyder in 1919. In this
application she stated that her 1st husband died in 1915 and she divorced the 2nd man in
May of 1918. She died in 1986. This record states that she married John in So Bend in
1912. I was unable to find that record. She was buried in Southlawn Cemetery. Clarence
Snyder and her son, John
C, are also buried in that cemetery. John Sr is not in that cemetery. I also checked the
funeral home record.
The graves registration is an index to all males buried in St Joseph Co before 1937. I
did not find John in that index. I did not find him in the health dept death index for St
Joseph Co or in So Bend.
I don't believe there was a TB hospital in St Joe Co before 1916. Perhaps John was in
a hospital in some other part of the state and died at that hospital.
