Greetings--
Most of my mother's family (IRVIN) came from North Liberty in the 19th
century. I am doing research on some rather distant cousins, the KANE family,
early pioneers who came from Ohio and were already established in North Liberty
in 1860---and some are still there today.
My question: Eastlawn Cemetery records. Elmer Kane, b. Dec 1852, married
Lydia Ann "Liddie" HOSTETLER abt. 1875, and they had six children, only 3 who
survived in the 1900 census. I have the names of the 3 who survived, but I
would like to know the names of all the children who may be buried with this
family group. Unfortunately, the lack of 1890 census records provides a total
gap in information, which only cemetery records might provide.
I ask, could someone provide the names and dates of all KANE family members
who were buried in Eastlawn before or about 1900 or so? Also Elmer's and
Lydia's death dates.
I realize that some entries may be from the family of Elmer Kane's brothers,
but I think I could sort them out, based on birth dates. Some names might
be indeed Elmer Kane's siblings: I am expecting to see one Benjamin Kane, b.
abt. 1868, and one Christian Kane, b. abt.Aug 1869.
What do we have for the Kane family? If it's more complicated than a simple
three minute search, please let me know and don't trouble yourself further,
but it would be interesting to document more about this family.
The pioneer patriarch of this family, Joseph Kane (abt. 1828 Ohio---abt.
1865), and his wife Lydia (1832---??) are also buried in Eastlawn, and anything
about them would be useful.
Many thanks in advance,
---Bob Robertson
