Mrs. Martha F. Berkheiser.
Mrs. Martha F. Berkheiser, 305 E. Fairview St., died in Osteopathic Hospital at 5 a.
m. today. She had been ill since Nov. 1953. Born in South Bend Oct. 11, 1881, Mrx.
Berkheiser lived here and in Michigan City, Ind., all her life. On June 29, 1904, in
South Bend, she was married to Allen Oliver Berkheiser, who died Dec. 8, 1945. She leaves
two daughters, Mrs. A. George Dieske, South Bend, and W. A. Goehner, Elkhart, Ind.; three
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Lipeska, South Bend, and two
sisters, Mrs. August Kopper and Mrs. Harry Dreher, both of South Bend. Friends may call
after 7 p. m. today in the Orvis Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Friday
in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church. The body will lie in the church from
12:30 p. m. Rev. Kenneth L. Kuebler, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview
Cemetery. Mrs. Berkheiser was a member of St. Peter's Church, the church's
Women's Guild and the Jam!
