In trying to locate a school in Buchanan Township the information below is
all I have to go on. This article is from a newspaper, date of publication
is not available. The Halsteads in this list lived in IN. The
Demend/Denends Lived in MI.
I used the BLM site to identify land purchasers and land information then
used
Topozone.com to locate where the land on a map (by Range, Township,
and Section), but have been unable to locate the school. The school is
interesting because it served two states.

No. 1, Buchanan township, taken in October, 1845. The whole number of
children between the ages of 4 and 18 years was 72. Among the names of the

I have found an old school between Buchanan and the border. Howe School. Due
South of Buchanan at the cross roads of Red Bud Trail and Buffalo Rd. East
of the shool is a cemerery. Howe Cemetery, on Buffalo Rd. Could this be the
one you are looking for? The only one I could find.
