Hi everyone!
I'm laying the groundwork for future research on my church's early history, and I
was wondering if anyone on this list knew anything on Noah Shupert. He was an early
pioneer clothier in South Bend who held Bible Studies in the 1890's not far from where
I live in Centre TWP. His efforts eventually bore fruit in the form of a church called
Auten Chapel which is today's Hillside Missionary Church.
My guess is that Noah Shupert held his Sunday School/Bible Studies in the old Rupel School
on Jackson Rd. This later inspired Henrietta "Mother" Auten to found and build
a church in 1914 which was right next door to the new Rupel School. The old school burned
down years before. Both the School and church are being used today as homes.
Also looking to connect with anyone who knows anything about the people of Auten Chapel
(1897-1946 period).
Thanks!
Rick B
