THE COMMON COUNCIL.
Proceedings of the Regular Session of the Board.
The common council met in regular session, Monday evening, with Lister, Skinner,
Henderson, Stover, Butler, Neup?rth and Weaver present, and Mayor Ham in the chair.
C. B. Scott was granted a week more time on the paving of Market street hill.
The city of Elkhart petitioned through Chief Engineer Culver for the use of the steam
fire engine for an indefinite period, apreeing to keep it in good repair and return it
when called for. The use of it was granted until the next meeting of the council.
A stove was ordered purchased for No. 4 hose hose.
The petition of Mrs. Mary Tuohey for a rebate of taxes, was referred to the city
attorney.
Civil Engineer Stace recommended the extension of the paving on the Market street
hill to cover the intersection of Mill street. Concurred in.
The clerk was directed to notify M. Donovan to begin delivering wood under his
contract with the city.
The chief of fire department was authorized to purchase two lanterns and two rubber
coats for each hose company.
The invitation extended to the Mayor and common council to attend the reception by
No. 4 hose company, on Thursday evening, was accepted.
