Fredrick Altenberger was my great grand father---------mother's mother's dad. I am stuck at him and I am trying to find his mother and father.
He was born April 30th, 1836-died December 26, 1897
I have found reference to a daughter's birth in Oceola, Indiana in 1876 and a marriage record in St. Joseph Co. to Sarah Krider in 1873.
Have seen a reference to a Finton Altenberger in family papers but not who he was or how he was related.

A 1912 obit for Thomas Lovette states that he was one of the first members of the Hiberians and also of St Vincent de Paul. The library has a book with a history of the 1st 30 years of the So Bend Hiberian Society. It lists the charter members. In 1915 a James C Lovett was listed as a charter member who was still living. There was also a roll of deceased members. Thomas Lovett was on this list. The latest record I found for the society was in 1975. I will look further. The St Vincen de Paul also exists.
There is also an 1895 obit for Mrs Thomas Lovett.
Thomas was buried from the St Patrick Church in So Bend and is buried in the Cedar Grove (Notre Dame) Cemetery. The church record does not include his place of birth. The church record does show the marriage of his daughter. You can reply to me at my home email: irvm3(a)juno.com

On the search page for ancestry.com I entered her name, date and place of birth and death. The first thing that popped up was a family tree for the Orr family which she is somehow related to. It had her dates of birth, marriage and death as well as the names of her parents. Using their names I was able to find her in the 1860 and 1870 census. Glad I could help. Don

I found a family tree which says that Fannie Louise Doane was born in Mishawaka on 15 Oct 1853 and died in Noble county on 24 Jan 1888, and her parents were Norman Elijah Doane and Rebecca Bitters. In the 1860 census the family was in Missouri, Marion county, Hannibal township, page 164 and was headed by Norman E Doane, 34, a carriage maker, born in Pa, and included Rebecca, 32, Pa, - Clarence, 13, Pa, - James H, 9, Mich, - Fannie L, 7, Ind, - Henry G, 5, Ind, and Margaret E, 2, Iowa. In the 1870 census the family was in Ind, Noble county, Sparta township, page 19 and was headed by Norman Doane, 44, a painter, born in Pa, and included Rebecca, 42, keeping house, Pa, - James H, 19, a carpenter, Mich, - Fanny, 17, at home, Ind, and Harry G, 15, Ind. John W Lung married Fannie Doane in Noble county on 10 Sep 1872, source is book 3, page 32. In the 1880 census the family was in Ind, Noble county, York township, Dist 71, page 23, an!

Looking for info on the family of Fannie Doane(my great grandmother) who was married to John Washington Lung from Noble Co. Family history says she was raised in Mishawaka and was a school teacher. Her family supposedly came from Pennsylvania and family legand said was a decendant of one of the Plymouth Mass Puritans.
