I looked on the St. Joseph County Gen Web site and found that there is an obituary on Peter Bender who died in 1971.
His obit was in the South Bend Tribune May 27, 1971.
His address was 3511 E. Corby Blvd. South Bend, IN.
There was also a note that there is a will available on him in St. Joseph Co. It was listed as Peter Bender, 333,3. So this may be the reference where the will is located.
Contact local.history(a)sjpl.org and see how you can get copies. Good luck.

Richard Harris and his wife, Hannah Nuzum, were early settlers in Indiana. They lived in Door Village, LaPorte,Indiana but seemed to have done legal business in St. Joseph Co. They were in Indiana between 1830 and 1840. Any clues or direction for my search for this family would be so much appreciated.
Thank you,
Karrie

I am researching Allie Powell's family and have found that her and her husband (Kenard Slocum) were buried in the Hamilton Cemetery near New Carlisle. She lived in Buchanan, Berrien County, Michigan when she died in 1951. I am intersted in her parents, John and Sarah (Brant) Powell.

Hi Lynn, I did find a few things on Peter Bender. His obit was published in
the South Bend Tribune on 27 May 1971. I also found a marriage record for
him. Peter Bender married Anna Gregas 25 Dec 1936, Book: 098, Page 271,
Record #; license date 1936/12/22. Anna Bender's obit was published in the South
Bend Tribune 17 Feb 1969. You can contact the library at _www.sjcpl.org_
(http://www.sjcpl.org) , click on Local and Family History, then click on
digital collections and databases, then click on Obit Index. That will give you
information on ordering the obits.
I also found a World War II draft registration for a Peter Bender, living at
1121 W. Washington, South Bend, IN, age 45, born July 15, 1897 (a year later
than SSDI) born in Nawieki Lithuania, Anna Bender listed as "person who will
always know your address". Back side of form lists him as white, 5'8" 152
lbs., blue eyes, brown hair, with light complexion. Dated 4/22/1942. this is
from Ancestry.com.
Peter Bender's will is listed in 1971 Box 333, 3
Anna Bender's will is listed in 1969 Box 311, 3
The wills can be seen at St. Joseph County Archives, 1140 S. Lafayette
Street, South Bend, IN 46613. There is information on obtaining these at
_www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~instjose/) .
