Mrs. Grace ZIMMERMAN, 70, widow of Robert ZIMMERMAN and a former resident of Mintdale, died Sunday forenoon in Memorial Hosital at South Bend. Mrs. ZIMMERMAN, who had lived in Wishawaka (sic) since 1930, had entered the hospital only two days before her death. She moved to Mishawaka following Mr. ZIMMERMAN's death in 1930. Survivors include two sons, Robert of South Bend, and Donald, of Mishawaka; several grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alfred LEWIS, of Mesa, Arizona. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Mishawaka Tuesday afternoon source: unknown newspaper July 15, 1959 (submitted by a volunteer, no family connection)

Yes the church records are available on film at the local library. Also there is a marriage application which will provide parents' names. There is also a newspaper article about the marriage. I will see what I can find and let you know.

Does anyone have access to church records in South Bend that can do a lookup for me? I'm looking for a marriage between John Gburek & Blanche Egierski on 3 Jul 1906. Need to find their parents names & the parish so I can do more research. I have other South Bend/Chicago connections & I believe that John is the son of Thomas from Chicago but need to confirm.

My St. Joseph County ancestors were War of 1812 veterans from NY. Generally speaking, based on my research, War of 1812 veterans from NY seem to have migrated first to Ohio after the war. From there many went on to purchase land in Indiana as the territory's land was opened up to settlers.

James Dvorak
Nov. 24, 1923 - Feb. 6, 1997
James Dvorak, 73, of Lake Village, Ind., died on Feb. 6, 1997. He is
survived by two sons, Melvin (Teresa) of Grant Park, Ill., and Joe (Judy) of Lake
Village; a daughter, Mary Lou (Patrick) Clarke, of South Bend, Ind.; five
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Krieicki and Agnes
O'Toole, both of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 1994, and by a brother Mickey.
He was a combat Army veteran of World War II, retired from Boilermakers
Union in Hammond, Ind., was a member of the VFW in Lowell, Ind., and a member of
the Disabled American Veteran.
Mr. Dvorak will be cremated. Sheets Funeral Home, Lowell, is handling
arrangements.

Timothy Wayne Davis, 34, of East Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed
away in his residence at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, after an illness.
Mr. Davis was born on Nov. 6, 1962, in Niles, Mich., and was a lifelong area
resident. He was employee as a waiter at Holly's Landing Restaurant.
He is survived by his parents Mildred E. and Billy H. Davis, of Niles; two
brothers, Tom E. of Somerset, Ky., and John H. of Niles; and his significant
other, Lee O'Connor of South Bend.
Mr. Davis was a graduate of Nile High School and Southwestern Michigan
College.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North,
3910 North Main St., Mishawaka, Ind., where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. on Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park,
Granger, Ind.
