A. L. Bruce Ernst, aged 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. August e. Ernst, of rural
route No. 1, Buchanan, Mich, formerly of this city, died at 11:05 o'clock
Monday night in St. Joseph's hospital. He had been ill six days. Mr. Ernst
was born August 31, 1915, in Penn township, east of this city, later moving
to Buchanan with his parents. He has been employed as a bookkeeper in a
Buchanan automobile sales company, and was a graduate of the Buchanan High
School and the South Bend College of Commerce. Surviving besides his
parents are four
brothers, E. J. Ernst of Benton Harbor, Mich, and Chancey, George and I. C.
Ernst all of Buchanan; three sisters, Sarah Jane of Mishawaka, Rose Lynn, a
nurse in St. Joseph's hospital here, and Loretta of Buchanan. Funeral
services were held this morning in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic church, the
Rev. George Lauer officiating, and burial was in Fairview cemetery.

Frank Ernst, of North Spring Street, age 52, died at 4:30 o'clock this
morning in St. Joseph's Hospital after an illness of 3 weeks of heart
disease. He was born in St. Joseph county, 2-13-1877, and had lived here all
his life. He was employed as a clerk in a local cigar store. Surviving him
are two brothers, Leo of Elmyira, Michigan and August of Buchanan, Mich,
Mrs. Edmund Beutter of south of the city, Mrs. Joseph Goeller of Elkhart,
Ind, Mathilda of Santa Monica, Calif, and Mrs. Otto-Klein of Mishawaka. The
body may be viewed in the Thaliemer funeral home. Funeral arrangements are
incomplete.

Mrs. Isabelle Klein
Mrs. Isabelle Ernst Klein, 79, of 324 Lincoln Way W. died at 8:30 pm
Saturday in her home. She was born on Aug 5, 1885 in Mishawaka. In 1916 she
was married to Otto Klein, who died in 1921. Surviving are a sister, Miss
Tillie Ernst, Mishawaka, a brother, August Ernst, Buchanan, several nieces
and nephews. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Legion
of Mary Services will be at 10 am Tuesday in St. Josephs church, with Very
Rev. Msgr Kurt A. Suelzer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St.
Joseph's cemetery. Friends may call after 2 pm Monday in the Thallemer
Goethals Funeral Home.

John S. Ernst Dies at age of 80 years
Was Resident of this community for over half a century
John S. Ernst, retired farmer and resident of this community for more than
half a century, died Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at his home, 530 West
Third street, at the age of 80 years. He was born in Rochester, NY on
2-15-1835, and came to this country 53 years ago from Canada. About 50 years
ago Mr. Ernst was united in marriage to Miss Magdalena Buchart, who died 5
years ago. Mr. Ernst was one of the best known men of the community, having
operated a farm four and half miles east of Mishawaka for years.
There survive him the following children: Mrs. Edmond Beutter, Mishawaka;
Mrs. Joseph Goeller, of Elkhart; Misses Tillie and Isabel and
Frank and August Ernst, of Mishawaka, and Leo Ernst, of Elmira, Michigan.

Heart Disease Fatal to Mrs. J. Beutter
Mrs. Justina Ernst Buetter, age 68 of South Ironwood drive, died at 9
o'clock Wed morning in her home after an illness of 3 months with heart
disease.
She was born in Penn township, Dec 29. 1866 and had lived here all her life.
Her marriage to Edward Beutter, who died in 1916, took place 40 years ago.
Surviving are 2 sons and daughter, Joseph and Ernst Beutter, and Mrs. J. W.
Pensinger, all of Mishawaka; 2 brothers, Leo of Elmira, Mich. and August
Ernst of Buchanan, Mich; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Joseph Goeller and Miss Tillie
Ernst of Elkhart and Mrs. Isabel Klein of Mishawaka.
The body may be viewed in the residence until the funeral, which will take
place Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church,
South Bend, and burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery, this city. Mrs.
Beutter was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Matthews church.

Miss Mathilda Ernst
Miss Mathilda (Tillie) Ernst, 92, who had been living at Sacred Hear Home,
Avilla, Ind, died at 5 pm Monday in McCray Hospital, Kendallville, Ind. She
had been ill for 2 weeks. Miss Ernst was born in Mishawaka, May 28, 1874 and
had lived all her lifetime here until a short time ago. Surviving are a
brother, August Ernst, of Buchanan, Mich, and several nieces and nephews.
Miss Ernst was a member of St. Joseph's church. Friends may call in the
Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home after 4 pm Wednesday.

Otto N. Klein Dies - Well Known Local Young Man Passes Away
Otto N. Klein, aged 32, 217 Harrison street, a well known young man of
Mishawaka, having resided here all of his life, passed away at his home at
2:20 o'clock this morning as a result of an attack of acute sugar diabetes.
He was ill for less than six days.
He was the son of Mr. And Mrs. John Klein, 809 Lincoln Way West, and was
born March 2, 1899 in Mishawaka and was united in marriage Nov 23 1916 to
Isabelle Ernst of this city. Mr. Klein was an employee of the Mishawaka
Woolen Manufacturing company.
He leaves his wife, his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Emma McCarthy and Mrs.
Josephine Kuhn, all of this city, and one sister, Miss Mildred Scheibelhut
of South Bend. Also one brother, Leo at home. Funeral arrangements will be
announced later.

Death of Mrs. Leo Ernst
Mrs. Leo Ernst died at her home, 4 miles east of Mishawaka, Saturday at 2 pm
with consumption, aged about 22 years. Her maiden name was Mame Renner and
she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Renner, of Osceola. She was
married to Leo Ernst about a year ago, who survives her, with parents and
the following brothers and sisters: Adelbert, Charles and John Renner, Mrs.
Edward Curtis and Mrs. Kirkpatrick, of Osceola. The funeral was held from
the Methodist church, at Osceola, at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.

MRS. MARY BUCHEIT DIES AT HOME IN CITY
Mrs. Mary Bucheit, age 68, died at her home, 516 West Third street,
Wednesday forenoon as a result of declining health.
She was born Jan 11, 1861, at Brazil, Ind., and has lived in this vicinity
41 years. She was married to Jacob Bucheit, Aug. 24, 1882. He
preceding her in death by three years. Surviving her are four daughters,
Mrs. John W. Schindler, Misses Isabelle and Clara Bucheit,
Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren, Christine, Louise and John
Schindler, Mishawaka: and Thomas and Patricia Webster, south Bend: two
sisters, Mrs. Caroline Mussell, Cleveland O., and Mrs. W. W. Fuller,
Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Rosary society.
Funeral services will be held Monday forenoon at 9 o'clock
from St. Joseph's church, Rev. John Bapst officiating. Burial will be in
St. Joseph's cemetery.

R. M. Webster is victim of Crash
Dies as result of severe Skull fracture injuries sustained when his
motorcycle and heavy truck collide at Highway intersection
Ralph M. Webster, age 36, of 622 North Cushing Street, a member of the firm
of Hagadorn & Webster motorcycle distributors, of this city, died in the
General hospital of Elkhart, Ind, Sunday morning at 11:55 o'clock from the
effects of a compound fracture of his skull, and other injuries sustained
Wednesday afternoon about six miles south of Elkhart when the motorcycle
which he was riding collided with a heavy truck at a road intersection.
The combined skill of a number of South Bend physicians, several Elkhart
doctors and a specialist from Chicago filed to overcome the shock of Mr.
Websters system.
Mr. Webster was born in St. Joseph county, south of Mishawaka on what is now
Dragoon road, March 17,, 1888 and had resided in this vicinity all his life.
Surviving are 2 children, Patricia and Thomas; his father, Jerome A.
Webster, and one sister, Mrs. S.W. Hosford, all of this city. The funeral
will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, Rev. Elmer
Ward Cole, D.D., of the First Christian church, officiating.

JACOB BUCHHEIT DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Jacob Buchheit, aged 76, well known citizen, prosperous farmer and prominent
politician, died at 9:15 o'clock this morning at the family home, 516 West
Third street, after an illness since August, of a complication of diseases.
Mr. Bucheit was born in Ontario, Canada, March 11, 1844, and came to this
country in 1864 and located on a farm south of Mishawaka where he was very
successful. About 15 years ago he sold his farm and came to Mishawaka and
has lived here since that time. He operated his other farm south of
Springbrook up to the time of his fatal illness.
Mr. Buchheit was very prominent in democratic circles and about 15 years ago
ran for county commissioner on that ticket, but was defeated. He has held
office as road supervisor and as county assessor. He was a prominent member
of St. Joseph's Catholic church
and was a member of the building committee of ST. Joseph's school. He was
also a member of the Holy Name society.
He was married to Miss Mary Smith, Aug. 24 1882, at Notre Dame, In., who
survives. Five children were born to this union, one daughter Mrs. Ralph M.
Webster, of South Bend passing away a year ago. Surviving with the wife are
four children, Miss Clara Buchheit, Miss
Isabelle Bucheit, at home; Mrs. John Schindler, of Mishawaka, and Dr. Vera
Buchheit, of Oklahoma City, Okla.., Also four grandchildren,
Christine and Louise Schindler, of this city, and Patsy and Thomas Jerome
Webster, of south Bend; also one Brother, Joseph Buchheit, of Petersburg,
Fla., and three sisters, Misses Frances and Elizabeth Bucheit and Mrs.
Anthony Wolf, of Mishawaka.
The remains may be viewed Thursday at the house. The funeral will be held
at 9 o'clock Friday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church, the Rev. L.
A. Moeneh officiating. Internment in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Fred Buchheit dies in Wisconsin
Fred Buchheit, of West Fourth street, this city, passed away in Appleton,
Wisconsin, 2 o'clock Friday afternoon of apoplexy, aged 50 years.
His sister, Elizabeth Buchheit, was with him when he died. He was taken ill
seven weeks ago in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and went to Appleton for
treatment. The remains arrived in Mishawaka and were conveyed to the home of
his sister at 214 South Mill Street.
The deceased was born near Berlin, Canada, in November, 1859, and had lived
in Mishawaka nearly all his life. He was married to Miss Elizabeth
Cavanaugh who survives with one daughter, Miss Bernadette Buchheit, of
Mishawaka. Also 3 sisters, Miss Frances Buchheit, Miss Elizabeth Buchheit
of Mishawaka and Barbara Wolf, of Notre Dame, and Jacob Buchheit, of
Mishawaka and Joseph Buchheit, of Bedford, ND.
Mr. Buchheit was well known here and was a traveling salesman for the
Studebacker Brothers manufacturing, South Bend.
The funeral was held Monday at 9 o'clock from St. Joseph's Catholic Church,
the Rev L.A. Moench officiating. Interment in St. Joseph's cemetery.

night in St. Joseph's hospital as a result of injuries suffered a week
previously in a fall down the stairs in her home. She was born in Canada and

Clara Frances Bucheit, age 45, of 810 Lincoln Way East, died in St. Joseph's
hospital at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday evening. She was born Aug.
29, 1883 near Mishawaka and had lived in the city the greater part of her
life. She was educated in the public schools of St. Joseph county and in
Josephinium convent, Chicago and for three years was librarian in the
Mishawaka public library. She was a member of Young Ladies' Society of St.
Joseph's church and Daughters of Isabella.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bucheit, deceased, were well known residents
of this community. Surviving her are two sisters, Vera
Bucheit, of Oklahoma City, Okla.., and Isabel Buchheit of this city; six
nephews and nieces, Christine Louise, Helen and john W. jr., Shindler, and
Patricia and Thomas Jerome Webster of south Bend. Tow other sisters, Mrs.
John W. Shindler and Mrs. Ralph M. Webster have preceded her in death.
The funeral will be held in St. Joseph's church Friday at 10 am with the
Rev. John C. Keller, officiating. Burial is to take place in St. Joseph's
cemetery.
The body may be viewed in the residence at 810 Lincoln Way Est., from
Wednesday until the hour of the funeral services.
Funeral services for Clara Frances Buchheit, 810 Lincoln Way East were held

Mrs. Byrl LaDow in ill Health 18 Months.
Mrs. Byrl LaDow, 64, of 214 S. Mill St. died at 4 am today in the Hillview
Nursing Home, after an illness of 18 months, Mrs. LaDow was born in South
Bend and had lived in Mishawaka since early childhood.
As Bernadette Bucheit, she married Mr. LaDow in Mishawaka in 1932. He
survives along with 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert Kuhl of South Bend, and Mrs.
Robert Kyle of Mishawaka; 2 sons, A. Rex LaDow and Lee LaDow, both of
Mishawaka, and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. LaDow was a member of St. Joseph's church. The body is at the
Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Wolf dies in Hospital
Had resided in this county for 75 years
Mrs. Anthony Wolf, aged 90, of 213 W. Sixth Street died at 5:20 o'clock
Tuesday afternoon in St. Joseph hospital. She had been ill two weeks.
Mrs. Wolf was born on March 12, 1846 in Canada. She was a resident of
St. Joseph county for 75 years and of Mishawaka for 25 years. As Miss
Barbara Buchheit she was married June 13, 1876 in Mishawaka to Anthony Wolf,
who died in February, 1935.
Surviving are three sons, Edward and Arthur F. Wolf, of Mishawaka, and
Lawrence Wolf, at home: two daughters, Mrs. Frederick A Trippel, of
Mishawaka and Miss Wilma Wolf, at home; a sister Miss Elizabeth Buchheit, of
Mishawaka, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wolf was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and of the
Rosary society of the church. The body may be viewed in the residence until
the funeral at 9 o'clock Friday morning. Rev. George J. Lauer, pastor, will
conduct the services in St. Joseph's church and burial will be in Cedar
Grove Cemetery, South Bend. Pall Bearers will be six grandsons, John M. and
Lewis A. Wolf, Victor, Carl C. and Albert W. Trippel and Frederick Trippel

Ernst J. Beutter
Ernst J. Beutter, 77, of 434 N. Logan, died at 2:45 pm Thursday in his home
after a sudden illness. He was born on Nov 27 1901 in South Bend and lived
in this area all his life. He retired in 1967 from the Bendix Corp. after 38
years of employment. In Feb 1924, in Mishawaka, he married Helen Arch, who
survives. Also surviving are a daughter Kathleen Beutter of Mishawaka; a
son, Edmund Beutter of Stevensville, Michigan, 5 grandchildren; a great
grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. James W. Pensinger of South Bend.
Friends may call after 6 pm today and 9 am Saturday in the
Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm
today. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in St. Monica's Catholic
Church. Rev Thaddeous Kwak, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in
St. Josephs Cemetery. Beutter was a member of St. Monica's parish.
