I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me if there are any
adoption records on line for St Joseph county. If they are not on line,
could you tell me where to write for some more information. I am trying to
find out about adoption records for a Anna Olive Garrett who was born on Oct
12, 1902 in South Bend In. The adopting persons may have been Daniel and
Minnie Garrett. This adoption should have taken place before 1906. Thanks
in advance.
Joseph, thanks for you help I will contact them for information.

Am seeking information on the descendents of Adolph Otto Cenkush
(1884-1951) and Mary A. Kopinski (1887-1967) as their obits in the South
Bend Tribune only gives the daughters married names. Their children
were:
James Cenkush
John Cenkush
Daughter Cenkush married Charles Bauret Jr.
Daughter Cenkush married Leo Niedbala
Daughter Cenkush married Alex Dukai
Daughter Cenkush married Lloyd Rynearson
Martha Cenkush
For background information Mary Kopinski Cenkush was the daughter of
Antoinette Wierzbinski ( 1866-1945) and George Kopinski (1865-1949).
Antoinette Wierzbinski Kopinski was the sister of my grandfather Michael
Wierzbinski (1861-1935).
Would be very appreciative of any genealogical data relating to this
family and their descendents. Thank you
Ralph Wiley

Does anyone on the list know how far back the birth & death records go
for the county? I am looking for information on 3 young children that
died between 1834-1838. I know where they are buried but I am one of
those that likes to feel the paper things are written on. Sincerely,
Lorelee Iles Dendauw, Oregon

This is a neat site to find places and it gives a map:
US Department of the Interior / US Geological Survey
Geographic Names Information System
http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html
*********
Try it using with:
*Town as "Feature Name"
*State
*County
Then you have several options of types of maps. Also, as "Feature Name" you
can use the name of a cemetery for that state and county -- or township
-make sure that you use the whole word and not an abbreviation.... I found
Olive Township School....
Hope someone finds this interesting!

Regarding birth records, always remember that some home births were not
registered, my grandma born in 1910 in South Bend was never registered.
