Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
If you don't get an answer on this list to help you I am planning a trip to
that county sometime this summer and perhaps I could help you out. Let me
know. char cimorto(a)megavision.com

I joined the South Bend Genealogical Society and got 2 free hours of research. Researcher found much more than at one library and membership was quite reasonable. Sorry I don't have specifics at my fingertips. but may be on the website.

Does anyone know if the Mishawaka Public Library will do simple lookup
research for out-of-town folks? I've run across several libraries in the
U.S. that will do simple easy research for copy and mail costs.

Where can I find a copy of this obit?
Thanks,

Hi!
Since the Wilkinson name was brought up, I figured that I may as well throw
this out to everyone!
I have many unlabelled family portraits. One is of a beautifully dressed
little girl holding a doll. The back says, "To Clara & Aunty. Ida Esther
Wilkinson, aged 2 yrs. 6 mo. Geo. McMillan, Photographer, Headquarters,
Vallejo, Cal." I feel this picture could be from 1880-1900 (don't hold me to
that!)
All my family is from northern Indiana -- namely St. Joe County and Marshall.
We know of a few who left for L.A. Calif. in 1924. I know of no
Wilkinson's, but there would be no reason for the family to have and keep
this portrait unless it was a relative. My surnames are: KRAUSE,
WINNA/WINNE, SCHLEMMER, REIDENBACH, FENSKE. Some of the names from the area
that married into the family were: WICKIZER, DEMERCE, PERRY, HOFFMAN, BAKER,
NEHER, SIMPSON, MCNALLY.

Wow! Didn't know the mention of the WILKINSON surname would reap this many
replies; no wonder the name is seen frequently in relation to the locality.

The Charles Wilkinson you mentioned seems a little old to be the right
Charles, but it's possible Anna married someone 22 years older than she
was! My Anna (Horein) Wilkinson was the youngest daughter born to
Christian and Caroline Horein of Madison Twp; her birthdate - 10 October
1885. From family hearsay, she seems to have spent many of the latter
years of her life alone; perhaps because her husband died much earlier or
they were divorced. All that is known is what an elder relative remembers -
visiting Anna in the 1940's; she remembers no man.

All I know of Charles and Anna (Horein) Wilkinson is that Anna was from
Madison Twp, St. Joseph Co, IN and the couple spent the early years of
their marriage away from this area. Family knowledge of the couple is
limited to the fact they had a son and a daughter that were both still
living when family history records were published in 1969.
To date, I've not been able to find a marriage record, but "The Mishawaka
Enterprise" ran an obit for Anna Wilkinson who died 29 October 1963 and the
S.S. Death Index lists she died in Indiana. This matches the info our
family has.
Maybe with these details, someone will note a match!
Thanks, Cindy
Note:
For those in St. Joseph and Kosciusko Co, we just started a discussion of
the WILKINSON surname on the Elkhart Co email list; am sending a copy of
this post to these lists since these folks also had connections to these
counties.
If anyone in any of these counties recognizes any of these folks, please
contact Cindy Kimes at <ckimes(a)mvillage.com>
I am searching for descendants of ISAAC EATON, one of the earliest
settlers of Clay township.
Some surnames which might be included are :
EATON - John, Jacob
LOVE - Isaac
MASSEY - John
JENNINGS - Charles
KIEFER - John
JUDIE - Sam, Sr. and Jr.
VINSON - Will
I would like to expand my knowledge of Isaac Eaton, my ggg-grandfather,
and will be happy to share my records on this family. I am descended
from his daughter, Susanna, who married Andrew Love. Thanks to all who
may have data to add to mine.
