I have just received info from my grandfather's marriage application (dated
Oct. 1927) that his father (aka. my brick wall) was living in Knox, Indiana,
and is listed as a "farmer". (very big grin!)
Previously, all that was known about him is that his name was Jens JACOBSEN,
b.abt.1864 in Denmark, emmigrated to Chicago, married and fathered 7 children,
was a Chicago Firefighter, then moved to a farm along a river in Indiana
sometime after his wife, Sophia, died in November of 1918. It is possible
that he remarried, and it is possible that he died in Knox, Indiana. My
father remembers meeting him only one time around 1940 or so.
How can I learn more about my great-grandfather?
* is it possible to find property tax records for the 1927?
* what about a listing of registered voters?
* what about obituaries for 1940s?
* is there a death index available for 1940s?
How can I learn about Starke County?
* what "main" rivers run thru the county?
* where is the county seat / county courthouses?
ANY assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!
