Hello!
I just signed up to your Mail List for I am looking to confirm a few things in my Alfred
Ewing family.
1. Alfred Ewing. Born in 1842 in Holmes Co., OH. Alfred died in Knox, Starke Co., IN on 17
Nov 1894, he was 52. Cause of death: Chronic diarrea as a result from his war injury. I
would like to find his obituary if possilbe.
Served in the Civil War on the Union side from May 15, 1862 to June 30, 1865. A Private
in Company A, 102 Regiment Ohio Voluntary Infantry.
On 8 Sep 1865 when Alfred was 23, he married Amanda Steele, in Plymouth, Marshall Co., IN.
Amanda died on 12 Nov 1923. I kind of know where Amanda is buried but I'm unsure as
to which cemetery. Its one of the Oak Groves. All I can remember is that it was a small
cemetery on the corner of two roads near a railroad. The grounds had tons of burs in the
grass.
They had the following children:
2 i. Albert Meredith (1879-1971)
ii. Charles. Born on 6 Nov 1881. I would like to know whether or not he and Alfred were
born in Starke Co., IN.
iii. Alfred Meredith. Born on 29 Apr 1885.
I will gladly reimburse for photocopying and postage.
Thanks!
