I just took another chunk out of one of my brick-walls! <happy dance>
My dad's paternal grand-father, Jens JACOBSEN, lived in Starke County during
the mid to late 1920s and the 1930s, and I've been trying to find him and
his 2nd wife, Olive, in the 1930 census! After FOUR years, I finally found
them in the California Twp of Starke Co, Indiana! [their last name in the
database was listed as 'JACOBREN' -- so soundex searches weren't even
working!]
I'm wondering if anyone has info on the woman/family he married -- here's
what I know so far (from 1920 & 1930 census records):
- Olive was born abt.1871 in Ohio;
her parents were born in PN (father) and OH (mother);
she was first married at age 24, so that's abt 1895;
she was listed as a widow in 1920 in Hammond, Lake County, IN;
her children had the last name of COLE...
-- James COLE, born abt 1903 in IN, father born in OH, mother born in OH;
-- Blanche COLE, born abt 1911 in IN, father born in OH, mother born in
OH;
-- Miranda COLE, born abt 1917 in IN, father born in OH, mother born in OH
(enumerated as 'step-daughter' to my gr-grandfather Jens JACOBSEN in
1930 census)
I have a subscription to ancestry so I've been looking thru Ohio and Indiana
databases for marriage, birth, death records -- nothing so far -- and the
1910 census is indexed for Head of household only (go figure!)
If anone has any info on this COLE family, please let me know... I'm hoping
to learn all that I can abt my dad's family because his grand-father died
when Dad was only 5 and he doesn't remember much...
THANKS !
