Hi Julie,
I was visiting my mom in Rockport (Sp-Co) today, so I made a quick stop at
the Library and checked the family files in the gen. dept. There are two
Murphy folders. I made a quick check and think it would be worth your
while to contact the genealogist at the library.
Some details from the Family Group Sheets of the Lazarus Taylor Murphy
line:
Clarence Murphy - b. Sp-Co IN,1882 (m. 1909, Sp-Co IN, Ethleen E.
Ellsworth);
parents: John William Murphy - b. IN,1848 (m. Georgia Ann Butler);
parents: Lazarus Taylor Murphy - b. IN, 1821 (m.1842, Sp-Co, IN, Mary
Grubb)
ch: James, John William, Franklin P, Ann, Eliza
father(of Lazarus): John William Murphy - nothing further. Note -
Lazarus Taylor gives his parents'
birthplace as Virginia in the 1880 Sp-Co, IN Census.
Another set of family group sheets in that same folder has data on Peter
Liam Murphy:
Peter - b. 1806, Ohio; m. 1833, Dearborn Co., IN to Drusilla Dolph; ch:
(all b. IN except for William who was b. KY): William, Jacob, Allen, Taylor,
Lahew, Arfamous, Thomas, John, George and Malissa.
It follows this line from Spencer Co. IN, to Vanderburgh Co., IN, to Putnam
Co., MO and ultimately ends in Wayne Co., Iowa with the family group of
Burton Robert Murphy - b. 1890, Putnam Co., MO, and Lavina Leora Clark:
Compiler was Betty Murphy Mabee of San Diego CA, dated 15 Sept. 1986.
I have no connection to these people, just trying to help a fellow
researcher. Hope you find something useful.
Jane

Thanks!
I think it was Carol Ulrey whom I was talking to that got me on the trail
of Peter L. and trying to find if there is a match to John & Susanah
I'll email Virgil on Taylor Murphy when I'm home - I've got all that on
that computer
it would be awesome if someone had a paper saying Uncle so-and-so
thanks for all of the other tidbits - I'm going to add it to my Murphy
List which has various Murphy stuff in the hopes of finding a link :-)
THANK YOU!
julie

Julie - about your Murphy's in
Spencer Co, IN
I hadn't noticed the Lazarus T on the census - but when I
went into my notes I had a note for myself to check it since
many times a neighbor would give out info and sometimes not
right or they would get "mixed up" and put other names that
person isn't etc (seen too many times) - my note said I
never found this name anywhere except on this one census.
That was why I was inquiring.
I had a few things on Murphys that may or may not help
you. The email addresses here may or may not be good as
they were in inquires and some time ago online.

in Dearborn Co. IN. Abijah BENNETT was the JP. We show the
family in Spencer Co. IN 1850 census
and that is the last information we have on Peter. The
census indicates he was born in Ohio in
1806. How long did they live in Dearborn Co. if at all and
who were his parents. Where in OH was he born???
Peter and Drusilla had William (my ggrandfather), Jacob,
Allen, Taylor, Laheu,
Arfamous, Thomas and Malissa. We only have sketchy info on
Taylor otherwise have no knowledge of the rest of the family
