First I see where you said "where GGrandfather Wm. Dolph Murphy moved (Putnam Co.)
sometime after his marriage to Sarah Ellen Brown in 1881. " but he married her around
1858 or 1859 (going on age of children and when they said they married on census), and
probably in Vanderburgh Co, IN. Where did you find any mention of her name being DeWolf?
Or her father being a Masterson?
In Spencer Co, IN there WAS a William who married a Sarah:
William Murphy Sarah Brown 5 Nov 1854 Spencer 3 422
and that IS proper timeframe for them to have married, but this may also not be them since
they may have married as late as 1858/59 and in another county too. Glancing at 1850
census I don't see a Sarah Brown, Sarah DeWolf or Sarah Masterson who would be the age
of Sarah (on 1860 census with William and his parents in Vanderburgh Co, IN).
Judy M.
This might be the connection I am looking for. I have Peter Liam Murphy
born 1806 in Ohio - (where in OH??) married to Druscilla Dolph (DeWolf)
in Dearborn Co. IN 10 March 1833. I see by my map guide to US Federal
Census that Campbell and Boone counties were right on the river on the
Ohio line and they were adjacent until 1840 when Kenton Co was created
between them. Spencer Co. IN on the Ohio is another county where I have
searched because right across the river in KY is Rabbit Hash, KY where
I think my great grandfather William Dolph Murphy was born. Other than
Wm. Dolph Murphy have not found out anything about the other children.
John, Arfamous, George, Jacob, Lahu,(or Lehew), Thomas, Taylor, and
daughter Malissa. Did have some links to Arfamous who might have been
in Civil War (and deserted) than was in Northern Missouri where
GGrandfather Wm. Dolph Murphy moved (Putnam Co.) sometime after
his marriage to Sarah Ellen Brown in 1881.
I plan to do more searching now for John and Susanah.
Of course Sarah Ellen Brown is a mystery too because
her father was John Masterson and there are several
John Mastersons in Spencer Co. IN. Also stuck on the DeWolf's - another
big mystery. Guess that is what makes genealogy so
interesting - all the mysteries.
Would love to hear from anyone with any additional information
on my missing Murphy line and would be happy to exchange any
information.
