I received this today and hope it is ok to pass on to this list.
On Saturday, September 23, 2000, there will be an informal reunion of
the descendants of the 42nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry. This gathering
will take place in conjunction with the "Jonesboro Muster" at the
Colonel William Jones State Historic Site, in Gentryville, Indiana
(Spencer County). This is an annual Civil War Living History Camp
honoring the career of Colonel William Jones. Although Colonel Jones was
a member of the 53rd Indiana Regiment, the 42nd had many members that
were from Gentryville and the surrounding area. The exact time of
this reunion is still being arranged, but it will probably take place in
the late morning or early afternoon on September 23. The 42nd IVI,
Company "H" reenactment group will be participating in this event, as
well as other reenactment groups. I was told that there might be a
little "skirmish" planned for the afternoon.
Even though this is a 42nd reunion, everybody is invited!! I hope to see
all of you there. When I find out the exact time of the reunion, I will
let all of you know. The "Jonesboro Muster" will be taking place on
September 23 and 24, 2000 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CDT.
This event will be a good opportunity to share information and stories
about our 42nd descendants.
