Right now most everything you told me is what I am finding - I will glance around and see
if I can find anything else - I do know they died before the 1900 census since Charles had
already been adopted by that time so the parents would have had to died between 1895 and
1900.
I'll see what I can come up with to help you -- just curious - did you ever find John
on 1900 census?
My best,
Judy M.
I was wondering if you could assist me in finding my uncles roots ---
My uncle Arthur R. Carlisle b.1917 Muscatine, Iowa, father was Charles
William Carlisle.
Charles was born in 1895 in Spencer County IN. He married my
grandmother Mary Elizabeth Greene. I have the Greene information but
cant get the Carlisle.
Mary and Charles divorced around 1920 and he went to live with his
adopted family -- James Frank. He later left the area and supposedly
moved to California. My GGdma told my uncle that his father died when
he my uncle was 9 (1926ish) I cant find anything on the death -- nor do
I know where he died.
Charles had a brother named John (b. 1894 IN) who married Tina or
Christine.
The brothers were orphaned and went to live with folks in the SPencer
County area. Charles went to live with James P Frank and John, Im not
sure.
The story goes that there was a train crash somewhere in Kentucky were
Charles and Johns parents were killed. Is thare any place that would
have this information on the train crash and who died?
I know this is all over the place -- so
1. Im trying to find my uncles grandparents (who they were)
the closest I have come is Charles Carlile and Elizabeth Knox
married in 1892 in spencer Co IND
2. Im trying to find out my uncles death -- if it occured in Indiana.
There are many spellings -- Carlisle, Carlile, Carlyle --
Thanks for any assistance
Lynn Westphaelinger
