Hi Judy,
Well, I saw that they were in Perry Co, also, but I have lost Gilbert
somewhere between 1806 in Breckinridge and when they showed up in Spencer
Co. (Other of my lines have gone to Spencer from Hardin/LaRue area).
An Edward Askins was in Virginia with Gilbert - probably was his father.
Gilbert served in RW and released at Fort Pitt in 1775. An Edward Askins
was listed as a private in Lord Dunmore's Little War of 1774 by
Skidmore - "[Roll
22] Captain Abraham Teagarden's roll. [Washington County, Pennsylvania] He
was paidL54 10sh for 109 days at 10 sh per diem....Privates...Edward Askins
(absonded)..." I think the families moved together, since I have found them
in VARIOUS KY counties...
Askins married into my Husted line. Gilbert is a "brother" to my direct
line John Husted. It appears that John was in KY for a while, since he has
a son who claimed to have been born in KY in 1795... So I am just trying to
sort things out on this and auxillary lines. I put quotes around brother,
because that is the theory - not sure if a brother or cousin or ?? I am not
even sure that John and Gilbert's father is the correct one...
I probably need to spend some more time with various census records to see
if I can track all Gilbert's children.
Wait a minute - I think that Sandage's married into the Husted line. I will
check that out later and get back to you on that....
Thanks!
Kathie
