Hi Julie,
Peter Lehue died in Spencer County, Indiana - I assume that because the note
from Kris, Spencer County Library:
"I have been rereading the old probate books and remembered an entry in
Probate Book A 1833-1842,(ca 1837,) Page 166 which states that Benjamin
Romine was the guardian of Minerva Lahue, infant heir of Peter Lahue."
I assume that you could get the Probate Book A from LDS and search the
actual Probate Records:
Probate order book v.A, Nov. 1833-May 1842 Probate order book v.B, Aug.
1842-Nov. 1844 FHL US/CAN Film

Do you have a FHCenter near you?

actually - I got a copy from my mom, lol - my grandfather helped out on
the book, back in the day - I found it on
ancestry.com and I'll send them
to you. They don't list a death date for this Peter. They only list a son
Meredith (I'll send you him - and his kids). Do you know where in Indiana
we might find Peter's death? or is this the nebulous no records portion?
Did you find your James buying land at all? Wonder where Minerva and
James ended up going? You can see that they keep on adding more into the
database because those are in red. Very cool of them to do this.

Hi Julie,
I am sure that is Minerva... if you look closely, the name is Minerva. But
what the heck was she doing buying land in 1837??? Since she was only 11
in
1837, I will assume that her mother bought the land for her - like a bank
account. Porter County was formed after LaPorte and probably from LaPorte.
However, it is interesting that Joseph moved to Porter l about that time.
And his divorce was in 1838, and he did not show up for the proceedings...
Think this tells us something a little bit more about their relationship!
Do you know when Peter Lahue died - exact year?
I do not have that Lahue book - got a copy of those pages from somewhere??
