Just got back from Grandview.
Left Terre Haute this morning to go assess the damage at the Grandview
Cemetery. It was awful. Stones down all over, some broken.
Also found out that the "kids" that did the damage were caught. Some may call
it child's play. This is not even close. This is blatant destruction of a
fine, well kept cemetery and several families loved ones final resting place.
I hope these "kids" will be, at the very least, taking part in the
restoration and resetting of these family headstones and also be responsible
for maintaining the
cemetery .Letters of apologies wouldn't hurt either. But if they aren't
sincere, don't even bother. My Great Grandmothers' parents stone was one that
was knocked over. Luckily it wasn't broken. I have other family members
buried there too. They were untouched.
These "kids" deserve whatever they get as punishment but I hope they come to
realize what they've done to the several families they have affected. That is
most important.
