Deborah:
That would be great. I don't know if the Harman/Harmon's in the are
ancestors, but I'm looking to find any info on my George C.B. Harman &
Elminda who both died on Sept 26, 1896. Fred Abshier told me they died
about 9 hours apart but he didn't know what happend.

>>>
>>> THE FAMILY RUMOR
>>> The family rumor was, Millard was working for Warrick County, IN.
>>> in
>>> the late 1930's. The county didn't have any money to pay wages so
out
>>> of
>>> desperation, he and another man siphon gas out of a county truck. They
>>> both
>>> got caught but since the other man's family had money he was able to
>>> get
>>> off
>>> with out any jail time. Millard on the other hand was sent to prison
>>> for
>>> two years. Since the actual prison record has came to light the family
>>> story seams to be off. During this so called two-year period Lora May
>>> got
>>> an annulment from him. No records Have been found to support this
>>> however.
>>> When Millard was a boy the Moffett family adopted him. On his marriage
>>> certificate his name is Sylvester Owen Moffett but he was going by the
>>> name
>>> of Owen Moffett at the time because he signed the marriage certificate
>>> as
>>> Owen. He was a coal miner in Boonville, IN. His dad that was listed
>>> was
>>> Fred Moffett. He too was a coal miner in Boonville, IN. His mother
>>> listed
>>> was Evelyn St. Clair. Also on his marriage certificate it states his
>>> birth
>>> date was August 1908. His birth name was Abshire. No one knows for
>>> sure
>>> if
>>> he legally changed his name to Moffett. On his prison record, it
>>> states
>>> that his dad was one, Brad Moffett birthplace being in Indiana.
>>> According
>>> to the record he died in 1938 of Mastoid. Also on his record it states
>>> that
>>> his mom was "Adie or Codie (Carter) (Absher) Moffett." Her
birthplace
>>> is
>>> Indiana and she died in 1915 from unknown causes. There is a lot of
>>> confusion here about his mother. On his marriage certificate it states
>>> that
>>> Evelyn St. Clair. I don't know where he moved in with the Moffett
>>> family.
>>> Family story says he was going to sign up for a type of service like
>>> the
>>> reserves and need his birth certificate. He was digging around in a
>>> trunk
>>> and found it. He also found out that he was not adopted a Moffett. He
>>> was
>>> really an Abshire. Soon after it is thought that he dropped Moffett
>>> and
>>> picked up the name Abshire. Either way he died as Millard Sylvester
>>> Abshire. It was thought that he was living with a woman named Rita in
>>> San
>>> Luis Obispo, CA. They were running a boarding next to the railroad
>>> tracks
>>> in
>>> town. On his death certificate it does not say anything about Rita.
>>> It's
>>> thought that he had a stroke perhaps in 1969, and was eventually
>>> confined
>>> to
>>> the Hacienda Convalescent Hospital now known as Woodside, at 1425
>>> Woodside
>>> Drive, San Luis Obispo, CA. It appears that he had been confined to
>>> the
>>> hospital for a long time because the certificate states that his "usual
>>> address" was the same as the hospitals. It also appears according to
>>> the
>>> death certificate that he was Ward of the State. His doctor, from 1969
>>> to
>>> 7/15/75 was G.C. Mayer-Harnbach, MD. Due to the dates, it seams that
>>> the
>>> doctor and state let him die on his own at this point. Cause of death:
>>> was
>>> "Terminal Pneumonitis due to General Debility as a consequence of
>>> Arteriosclerosis". Time of death was 11:35 P.M. He was buried under
>>> the
>>> direction of Sutcliffe-Elliott Funeral Home on August 11th at Odd
