I am trying to locate info about Adam and Julia Messing. They are on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Spencer Co (Grass Township) census. They were born in Germany (Rheinland/Oldenburg) Children are: Sophia (my ggrandmother), Catharine, Elizabeth, Lana and Mary. I know they both died before the 1880 census Don't know where they are buried.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a photo that is either George Kroeger or Clarence McDaniels when they
were about 20yo. Is there anyone that can identify them for me.

Instructions for Writing to NARA
By Sue Axton
The 7 March 2007 issue of the Review discusses the US National
Archives and Records Administration (NARA) proposal to increase its
fees for photocopying records; notably, it mentions their proposal to
increase fees for copies of Civil War pension files from $37 to $125.
I went to the NARA site to find a place to make a comment on the fee
increase, but the site is almost impossible to figure out. Maybe you
could give step-by-step instructions in a future newsletter. Also,
maybe you could encourage people to write their representatives. I am
not against a reasonable fee to cover the cost of paper and ink, but
$125 for Civil War pension records is way out of line. That puts the
cost out of reach for most researchers.
I would pay an extra fee if the records I request would be put online
for everyone to access. As long as they are going to the trouble of
copying them once, how hard would it be to put them on the website?
[Editor's Note: Comments on the NARA proposal for a photocopying fee
increase must be made by 27 April, so if you have comments submit them
soon.
The following are step-by-step instructions for submitting your
comments:
1. Go to www.regulations.gov.
2. Under "Search for," select "Documents Open for Public Comment."
3. Under "Agency," select "National Archives and Records
Administration*."
4. Under "Document Type," select "All Document Types."
5. In the "Keyword or ID" field, type "NARA-07-0001-0001."
6. Select "Exact Phrase."
7. Click the "Submit" button.
You can read the proposed rule by clicking the PDF icon in the "Views"
column. You can add your comments by clicking the yellow balloon icon
in the "Comments" column.
Also, you can e-mail comments to your government representative at:
http://www.house.gov/writerep/.]

Thanks Peggy for taking time to look for me. I just don't know what
happened to Harrison. You'd think he'd be in Mt Zion Cemetery with the rest of the
Conners but he's not. His youngest son Ulysses was b. 1868 and then his
wife Sarah Kennedy remarried Trustin Lamar in 1870. His other two sons are with
the Kennedy's in 1880. So, he probably died 1868-1870.
Thanks again for your time.

Donna,
I have some (not all of them) old cemetery books published by Heritage House
in 1971. I do have the Union Chapel E. U. B. Church Cemetery, in Hammond.
There are no Conner's listed there. In the index for all the books there are
numerous Conner's, but in the few I have, no Harrison Conner. Sorry. Hope
someone else can help with that.

The cemeteris were reread & updated with more lost cemeteries being added
in 1985-86 by myself, Kris Manley, and Sharon Patmore. So we have a pretty
good list. But its 20 years old now too. I've tried to keep the newspaper
obituaries up todate. I work in the genealogy room at the library at
Rockport, Spencer County. In.

Hi, I am trying to find parents for a Lawrence/Lorenze Schneider, b. abt 1849-- OH or IN-- married to a Remke woman in 1873 in Spencer COunty, after she died he married Antonia Leppert in Ferdinand, IN (Dubois CO). They lived in Louisville per the 1900 census on. Lawrence died just after the census was taken in Jan. 1920. I think he might fit into the Charles and Magdalena Schneider family lines which were in Ripley CO from 1850-1880. Would anyone have access to the marriage records to see if parents aregiven for the bride and groom-- Lawrence and the Remke lady were married in Spencer CO.
