re: William Drake, Pamelia Davis Drake Bassett & Samuel Bassett.
Phyllis,
I am sure you will be overwhelmed. However when things "show down", would you
please look up the estate papers of William Drake who died 1842-1847 & his
wife, Pamelia Davis Drake Bassett?
I would be interested. Was he William C. or William W. Drake? My notes show
his will was prob. probated Book D page 369, Mar 1847 -- the final settlement
of estate of William W. Drake decd.
The William Drake I am looking for was married to Pamelia Davis September 20,
1835 in Shelby County & father to Sarah b. about 1836, Nathan b. March 13,
1838 who married Margaret Abernathy, Elizabeth b. September 24, 1840 who
married Samuel Crow & moved to Iowa, Lodema Ann b. February 04, 1841 (Lodema
was my gg grandmother who married JW Harrell on March 25, 1858 in Shelby.)
Pamelia Davis Drake married second Samuel Bassett on July 27, 1845 in Shelby.
He died July 20, 1864 during the Civil War -- Battle Peach Tree Creek in GA.
I do not know when Pamelia died & wonder if there is a record of a Pamelia
Bassett as well. They had 3 children that I know of -- Clarissa, Robert who
m. Elizabeth H Williams & Mary who m. Francis Marion McKay.
It's not clear who William Drake's parents were. There was apparently more
than one. He may have been the child of another William & a Phebe Drake.
Thanks so much!
Mary
