Hi Mary,
I think we've corresponded before. Hi again!
I don't know where Wm. Totten is buried, but I was thinking it was in
Fairland Cem.
The Shelby Co. Cem. index lists him as being listed in the Brandywine Twp.
Cem. book p. 43( Wm. A. and Wm. S. Totten) that the Shelby Co. Historical
Society put out. I have most of the other twps., but not that one.
Eliphalet Hubble is buried in Hubble Cem. on Rd. 16 N. of Marion Va. (I think
that is the road up the mountain of Hungry Mother area.)
Elizabeth is probably buried next to him, as there is a broken stone next to
his that says
--- of 12
73y 2 m. 21 days
My Debord ancestors are buried in Sinclair Bottom Cem.
Eliphalet owned 100 acres in Rich Valley on the North Fork of the Holston.
Rich Valley is on the other side of the mountain (I think).
I don't have Elizabeth's maiden name, but have a few ideas for possibilities.
There is a Elizabeth Coffin who was disowned out of the Quaker church in N.Y.
in 1798 for marrying out of the faith to a Hubble. The date is later than the
first children b. 1793, 1795, etc., but perhaps the date wasn't when she
married, only when disavowed or something. The Hubbles came from N.Y., so a
possibility, I've thought.
Also, Eliphalet Hubble bought land from Richardsons, so I've wondered about
that.
Also, John Whitehead had a son Carson, so I've wondered about Carson, also
about the name Ransom that shows up in the Whitehead family. I think claims that
she was a Ransom are due to my musings about that.
I haven't found a connection to any of those as of yet.
