Alan,
Frances Murnan married Albert Smith Decmeber 31, 1878 (Book 11, Page 243, Shelby County
Marriage Records)
1870 Census Moral Township, Shelby County, Indiana Brookfield PO, pages 31and 32, taken
8/5/1870 lists the following:
233/2332 Jacob Murnan Age 38, Matilda age 36, James age 12, Sarah A. age 10, Duncan age 2
and Frances age 8.
Hope this helps. Did Frances die in Shelby County? If she did and you have a death date,
I would be able to get a copy of her obit. I live in Shelby County and am always willing
to help.

I am trying to find the parents of Mary Frances / Frances Mary Murnan who
married to Albert Smith. Albert was the twin brother of Austin Smith;
Albert and Austin were sons of Henry C. Smith. According to the 1900
census, Frances was born September 1860. In 1930 both Frances and Albert
were still living in Moral Township. I would also like to know if they had
twin children of their own, (boy and girl) born August 24, 1883. Thank you
for any help you can give.

Alan,
I have the MURNAN page of the 1882-1920 WPA Birth Index for Shelby Co.
There is only one 1883 birth: 25 Sep, son born to Frank and Martha.
Moral Twp is a LONG way from Shelbyville where the doctor would have
recorded the birth. At this early date, the registration was not required
by law. It is not unusual that there is no record. In fact, there are no
children of Albert or Austin recorded. It could be that the doctor sent the
information to the state, so please check with the IN State Health Dept.
