I also found your line interesting since many of our lines left Monongalia
Co, VA for Warren Co.OH, and then Shelby Co. IN about 22 years later. One
correction: Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery is not in Noble Twp. The cemetery
straddles the Shelby Twp/Washington Twp. line on South SR 9. Your land is 3
miles SW of Waldron and in Secs. 1, 2, and 3 (Haymond), so it is in northern
Noble Twp and east of Wilson or Wilson's Corner and the Lewis Creek Cemetery
on 600S and west of Morven and St. Paul.
All our earliest Moores lived in southernmost Shelby Co. in Noble Twp.'s
southwest corner in Sections 34 and 35 on the border with Bartholomew Co.
IN. Our earliest Moore's which include Austin Moore, were never Mohrs. Moore
is Anglo-Irish. The surname Mohr, which is German, can be found in Jackson
Twp. even to this day. Other allied families with our Moore's include
Chesser, Hatten, Hendrickson, Wasson, Shirley, Howard and many more. Most
are buried in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cem. in Sec.26 a few miles south
of Geneva (Sulphur Hill) on land owned by twice-widowed Cassander (Moore)
Shirley Hatten in 1880.

Subject: Re: [INSHELBY] Moore (John patent deed 1834 Noble Township)
>>Township 11 North of Range 7 East has what seems to be a plat
map. The
square numbered 1 has a Moore on it
(This land is about 3 miles southwest of Waldron and most of my line are
buried in Lewis Creek Cemetery-Noble Township, Shelby County)
Okay, I'm jumping in on this line now.....the above plot of land is my
family's farm. My uncle owns this chunk of property now (yes, a portion
of
this
has only been owned by the Indians and the Moores). I have no
Austin
names in
my lineage, but it doesn't mean they weren't siblings to
someone. I have
documented James Moore down to me for IGS Civil war ancestors-but the
rest is
based on other's research. I have notes-let me know if anyone
needs more
info
on a particular person. Diana Moore
Here's my line:
John H(enry) Moore b. 1807 - 1893 married Hannah B. Haymond (patent deed
above)
children: Rebecca Moore 1830-1831
Alfred Ahijah Moore 1832-1911 m. Isabella Robertson
Henry C. Moore 1836-1864
Mary Jane Moore 1839-1914 m. Oscar Cox
James Madison Moore 1841-1904 married Eliza Holland
1843-1878
=> MY LINE
married
Nancy Worland (1854-1900)
married
Louise Newcome (1845-1917)
John W. Moore 1841-1861
Sarah R. Moore b. 1842 married Lafayette Wilson
Benna F. Moore 1857 -1857
John's father was Henry:
Henry Moore b. 1784-1866 married to Rebecca Haymond (1788-1816) and mother
of John.
married Nancy ? died 1822
married Hannah Jacobus.
I have as children of Henry
John H(enry) Moore m. Hannah Haymond (yep the family tree
is a
little twisted!)
Ahijah Moore (1809-1837) m. Nancy Hill
Sarah Moore (1812-1894) m. Thomas Griffing
Mary Ann Moore (1815-1895) m. John Portlock
Eli Moore (1821-1868) m. Martha Love
James Moore (1825-1909) m. Clariss Ann Hennis and Mary Boyce
Eliza Moore (1827 - 1896) m. Joseph Cummins
Martha Moore (b. 1829)
David Moore (b. 1831)
Elizabeth Moore (b. 1833)
Simon Moore (b. 1835) m. Nancy Shore
Henry Harrison Moore (b. 1840)
Rebecca Jane Moore (b. 1843) m. Thomas McCullock)
William Moore (b. 1845) m. Lusetta Lennington
I have LOTS of holes to fill in if anyone matches up to any of these names
and dates.
Henry and Rebecca are tied to Monongalia (W.) VA and Henry's parents were
J.
Mohr/Moore (1740-1812) and Sophia ? (1741-1815). Apparently marrying
the
Haymonds changed the Mohr name to Moore. I do have some more on these
ancestors if anyone is interested.
