Hi Terri Hauk
Just wanted to bring you up to date on my research. I have not found any
thing new on the parents of John Dick. I have not followed any of the
Hauk's line, my line is John Dick's son Samuel and down the line. I have
marrage records of John & Nancy, and also Susannah King's marriage to John.
I also have death records of many of the family that died in Winamack,
Pulaski Co IN. The only thing I know about the Hauk's is what you already
know. Sorry! If you find anything about John (sr), please let me know at
dickl(a)frontiernet.net. It seems that Dick Senior and family just dropped
out of sight.

Hi Larry,
I am researching the Hauk/Tucker/Field/Baker families of Shelby Co.,
IN. I've corresponded with Jeff Hauk who has a connection with
the Dick family in Shelby Co. Here's an exchange between us from May
2001 on
Genforum.com:

I've found a couple of possible siblings for my David HAUK of Shelby
Co., IN, born in Ohio about ~1822.
Other HAUKs in the 1850 Shelby Co. census who were close in age and also
from Ohio were the following:
Phillip Hauk 21 Blacksmith Ohio (living with George DICK and family)
John Hauk 19 Blacksmith Ohio (living with John DICK and family)
Please let me know if you have any information on this family of HAUKs
from Ohio!

I regret to say that I've never followed up on this connection and lost
touch with Jeff, so I don't really have any good info for you on John
Dick and family. I think that Martha was daughter of John Dick and
married John Hauk.
Can you provide a time frame? year of birth or death or marriage(s)?
I see that your John Dick is listed on
FamilySearch.org. It says there
that he was born in 1797 in Adams Co., Pennsylvania and his father was
also John Dick, born 1745 in northern Ireland.
Here's the census transcription from the 1850 Shelby Co., IN census. It
tells us John was a wagonmaker and they probably moved from OH to IN
between 1834 and 1838. Jeff mentioned he found them in Butler Co., OH.
