Hi Peggy,
I, too, checked the BLM site this past week and found
James Thompson, of Monroe Co., Va.
Please, let me know of any progress you make in your
James Thompson research.
I am thinking that the Mary Thompson, second wife of
my Edmund Dunn was the widow of James Thompson who
died in 1838, living with her daughter Sarah and
husband Michael Miller in the 1860 Fed Census,
Richland, Richland Twp.,Rush Co., Indiana, age 81.
I'm happy to share information.

With all the renewed interest in BLM, I looked up
the application of James
Thompson in Rush County, IN. Sure enough, he came
from Monroe County
Virginia.
