The way to see what records have been microfilmed by LDS is this:
www.FamilySearch.com
click on Library
click on Family History Library Catalog (FHL)
click on Place Search
for Place type Shelby
type Part of Indiana
Search
It will bring up a whole page of records that have been microfilmed.
I clicked on Court Records and selected Civil Court Order books 1822 - 1921
There are 41 rolls of microfilm that have been microfilmed. These are in the
Courthouse Annex and Basement of the Courthouse Annex.
Clicking on the first listing under "Film Notes" is Vol. A & B - Oct. 1822 -
Dec. 1837 - Film #2405992
If I wanted to view this microfilm I would go either to Salt Lake City or to
the nearest Family History Library (I believe all of these libraries are
located in LDS churches). I have one near me.
The FHL orders the microfilm from Salt Lake City at a cost of $5.75 per film
(the patron pays). It stays at the FHL for about 3 weeks and cannot be taken
from that library. I pay 25 cents for each page I copy from the film. I can
renew for 3 more weeks at the same price. If I renew a third time at the same
price, the film says permanently at the FHL for me (and for others) to view.
For the past 12 years my husband and I have ordered many rolls of microfilm
(until last year they were about $3.75 a roll.)
You may not be interested in obtaining the microfilms, but you still may be
interested in what Shelby Co. records have been microfilmed.
