Hello again Donna:
Job W. Perry was buried in the Lemar Cemetery in Shelby County, beside his infant son Job
Jr. The Lemar Cemetery no longer exists. Located on the banks of the Blue River in
Jackson Township, a little ways southwest of the town of Marietta, it was gradually washed
away by flooding and erosion in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I believe, but
have not yet researched, that this cemetery was on land owned by the Lemar family
associated with the 2nd wife of Andrew Jackson Story (Jerusha Ann Story's twin
brother), Caroline Lamar / Lemar.
I do not know the birth date or death date of Job W. Perry, Jr. -- he is not listed with
the family in the 1870 US census. So he could have been born (& died) before the 1870
census OR after it. Do you have more specific information? In any event, he obviously
died before the 1880 census, since he is not enumerated with his mother Jerusha, brothers
Henry and Albert, step-father Benjamin F. Ensley and Endsley step-siblings.
Jerusha and her 3rd husband Benjamin F. Endsley are buried in the Roberts Chapel Cemetery
(which straddles the Bartholomew County and Shelby County line). You can view their grave
marker and brief information about them on
findagrave.com. Benjamin's first four
wives and numerous other Endsley relatives are also buried in this cemetery, which was
originally a farm cemetery on Endsley land.
With respect to the son of Job W. Perry and Jerusha Ann Story named William Henry Perry
(called Henry), he was born about 1866 in Indiana (probably Shelby County). He is
enumerated in the 1870 US census in Hendricks Township, Shelby County, IN living in the
household of his parents (who are erroneously listed as Joseph and Anna) along with his
brother Albert (born 1868) and several half-siblings from both Job's first marriage
and Jerusha's first marriage. As another person posted, he is also listed in the 1880
US census for German Township, Bartholomew County, IN in the household of his step-father
Benjamin Endsley, where he and his brother Albert are erroneously listed as surnamed
"Endsley". After that, my trail for William Henry Perry grows cold. I suspect,
but have not yet proven, that he is the William Henry (or Henry W.) Perry enumerated in
the 1910 and 1920 US Census for Cowley County, Kansas, living with wife Alma. By 1930
Alma is widowed and living with their tw!
o daughters. This is the only William Henry (or Henry or William) Perry born in 1866 in
Indiana that I have found that is not otherwise eliminated as a possibility. But I have
no basis for proving this information.
I have attempted to attach a photo file containing a photo from about 1940 showing a
family group shot of the elderly Albert Perry, his wife, all of his adult children and
their spouses and children, and one great-grandson. Separately I will send you the text
from Albert Perry's obituary.
