I have a copy of an original H-D-T book. I also have the list of names and addresses of
the Descendants of G.M. Haehl and Eve D. Haehl that was to be inserted in the Historical
Sketch Books. The list must have been sent out at a later date because it is separate and
the print is different than the book. I have seen 2 of the original books and both were
printed and had a red cover that was heavy and looked a little like thin leather, but
I'm sure it really was not. The author's name was not listed on the original.
From reading it over and over and looking at the names and addresses, I am speculating
that the author may have been Harvey Hessler. On p. 13 he refers to the "Alexander
baby girl as the mother and grandmother of all our Hesslers." The author writes as if
he lived in Cincinnati and he was listed in the 1920 census of Cincinnati. My uncle,
Norman Theobald, thinks he has heard that the author was Carl Stemler. I would estimate
that it may have been written as late as 1940 by some of the things he wrote about and by
the names of living people on the list of Descendants. I would welcome hearing from
others who have thoughts on this.
