Second, can someone help me sort out this family a bit?
The following is the Obituary of Nancy Jane Smith Gordon Bogue Moore:
The Shelbyville Republican
Friday March 12, 1926
----------
AGED LADY DIED EARLY FRIDAY
Mrs. Nancy J. Moore Passed Away At Home South of Gwynneville
ILL THREE WEEKS WITH FLU
----------
Mrs. Nancy J. Moore, age 72, passed away this morning at four o'clock, at
her home south of Gwyneville, after an illness of three weeks with influenza. She was
born October 2, 1853, and was the widow of John Moore, who died about seven years ago.
She is survived by two children, Mrs. Bert Kennedy, of Arlington and William Moore, of
near Fairland, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. There are also two
brothers and a sister left to mourn her death, William Smith of Winfield, Kansas, Oved
Smith, of Indianapolis and Mrs. Henry Gordon of Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Friends church Sunday afternoon at
two o'clock with Rev. Charles Young, of Shirley, officiating. Burial will be made in
the Friends cemetery near the church in charge of Carmony Brothers.
I am interested in figuring out exactly who Mrs. Henry Gordon of Michigan is. The obit
indicates she is the sister of Nancy Jane. Nancy Jane had two sisters that I know of
Sarah E b. abt 1845 and Mary Elisa b abt 1850 but died before 1860. Nancy Jane's first
husband was John R. Gordon son of Jeremiah Gordon. He died and she married Francis Marion
Bogue. That marriage ended in divorce and she married John B. Moore. John R. Gordon had a
brother, Henry b. abt 1850.
There is a marriage for Henry Gordon in Rush county to Margaret M. Smith 6 October 1872.

So, how is Margaret M Smith m Henry Gordon related, or is she, to Nancy J. Smith whose
sister is Mrs. Henry Gordon. There is a family tree on Ancestry that indicates that Henry
Gordon, son of Jeremiah, married to Margaret Melvina Smith, died in Cass County,
Michigan----where Mrs. Henry Gordon of Nancy Jane's obituary was said to be living.
This same tree lists Margaret Melvina's father as William Smith. I'm having an
impossible time convincing myself that Sarah E is Margaret M. Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks, Kathy
