Hi all,
Conceived in Berkeley, born in San Francisco, raised in Marin County (across the GG
Bridge) - a typical Bay Area mutt! Marin is where (to the disgust of natives) they made
that horrid show about "hot tubs
and peacock feathers" depicting us all as rich and weird. Well, some of us could
arguably be weird ;] but I've surely never been rich and I have been here over 50
years ;]
Now *sigh* all those attracted to that kind of lifestyle *moved* here and the "local
yokels" are becoming fewer and far between as we crave the old slower pace and
relaxed pace of days gone by.....
Shelby Co. is pivotal in my family history as the meeting place of my Quaker line with my
Irish Famine Immigrant. She came up from Arkansas, likely headed for Wayne Co. and a visit
with kin there. He had
worked the railroads west form New York City. He was 54, she was 15. She had lost her
father at age 10, we suspect he had left a dead family back in Ireland. They met, clicked
and it worked for the rest
of their lives. I am working hard to substantiate it all. They left Shelby Co. for the KS
Land Run and ended up in OK after another run....
I got to "visit" Indiana in a blizzard last Spring for 3 days and fell in love
with the land.... look forward to getting there again to really see it!
Have a great 4th one and all....
