Hi, I am looking for information on my great-granparents George and Minnie Gibson. Minnie came here from Germany. I have their marriage license in Hamilton County, Indiana, but looking more for Minnie and George. They were married November 20, 1890, her age was approximately 17 years old. Her father was Thomas Frazier, Mother was Louisa Frazier. Thank you! slr

Message Board Post:
I have often found Murnans in Hancock & Shelby counties listed under the surname "Manan" - that spelling is even used on the tombstone of one of my ancestors buried in Shelby county. These Murnans I know of are all descended from John Bernard Murnan of Cold Springs, Campbell county, Kentucky (born Ireland about 1757).
I have one ancestor, Elizabeth Murnan who married Andrew S. McGahey in Franklin county in 1829. She was listed as "Manan" in the marriage record. They were both born in Kentucky, both resided in Hancock county Indiana. I've always wondered what the connection was to Franklin county as I found no other known Murnans or McGaheys in Franklin.
Now I've seen that there are quite a variety of other Murnans, and in particular some Manans in Franklin county (for instance 1850 Thomas Manan, age 54, born Ireland) who I don't know if or how they might be related.
Has anyone contemplated, researched, or found any connection between John B. Murnan of KY & descendants and these other Manans or Murnans who seem to have come over from Ireland several decades later? Particularly those in KY or IN?
