Well, I sure had thought that it was Shelby County, but since he lived in Rush County, perhaps it was there. I will check Rush County.

I don't see any Halterman entries in the Shelby County Indiana probate record index. Are you sure Henry died in Shelby County?

Message Board Post:
I visited Brandywine in 1972 to visit the grave of my gr.gr.gr. grandather, William B. Alexander. It seemed like a nice cemetery. I do recall reading somewhere or hearing from a distant cousin that one cemetery was destroyed when they built I-74. I do not recall which cemetery this was or what happened to the graves. Can anyone answer this question?

My Gr.Gr.Gr. grandfather, Henry Halterman, had his will probated Jan 18, 1865. I am wondering if some additional papers in his probate file might give his date of death or even his wife Katharine's date of death or even place of burial. I know that sometimes the Letters of Administration (or some similiar name) have deathdates. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks.

William B. Alexander and first wife, Catharine, had ten children: Robert, Lucretia, William B. Jr, John, Emeline, Franklin, James, Virginia, Thomas and Mary. They came to Shelby County about 1830 from NC. The earlier children were born in NC, the later ones in Shelby Co, IN. He died in 1866 and she died in 1859. Has any descendent traced the family back any further? Does any descendent have a photo of William or Catharine?

I am interested in the burial records for William B. ALEXANDER - d. Feb 14, 1866 and wife, Catherine, d. May 5, 1859. They lived in Brandywine Twp. It is a long shot, but just maybe their church burial records give a date and place of birth or parent's names?

The Methodist Archives are housed at DePauw University, Greencastle,
Indiana. I've been through the Fairland church's minute books and don't
recall seeing mentions of burials, or births, or marriages. All that's
in them are the comings and leavings of members (still alive), and maybe
some disciplining in-between.
