Barbara, Thank you for the census. It gave me just what I was looking
for. I do appreciate the Shelby site and all the help it has given me.

Yes, I have that, but I really appreciate you sending it to me just in case. You never know when the one thing you find is the thing that will open doors for me.

Thomas Jefferson Fleming the banker, I think the brother of the George
Washington Fleming the doctor. I am a little rusty on this line -- I have
never been able to connect it to my husband's line. I think Thomas'
daughter married into the Elliott line. There was also a very line of
Fleming's that were connected with the Lemasters, Boone, etc, line.

Too early for an obituary per se. Maybe a "mention."

That did not work for me. I made a mistake sending the year of his death.
It was 1867 that he died in Shelby Co. Indiana. Is there a chance of
getting an obituary of his. ?

Phyllis,
That's possible. I just assumed that since she was suing for support of
the child that she was keeping it, and the last court date says they had
entered into a settlement and she was satisfied that provisions had been
made for the support of the child. I wish I could find a record of her
getting married. Then perhaps I could find her on the 1900 census and see
if she has a 15 year old daughter with her. I'll just have to keep
digging.

I just recently saw the legal document (some of which I've included below)
that Phyllis transcribed and posted of Dora HALL vs Edward HARRELL in
Shelby Co. It is amazing to me since this Edward (Eddie) Harrell is my
grandfather. This means the child born to Dora Hall was my father's
sibling. I am 99% sure that my father and his siblings knew nothing about
this child and I would love to hear from anyone that connects in any way
to Dora HALL. At the time she was living with Albert DOBBINS, her
godfather. In 1880 Dora was living with her mother Laura Hall and her
parents, Abram (Abraham) and Eliza ROSS. Laura, who had married John
HALL Oct 21 1867, also had two sons, Frank HALL, b. abt 1875 and Thomas
Benton HALL, b. about 1878. Dora was born abt 1873. They were all living
together in Addison Twp. Dora's father was not listed in the household.
Dora HALL filed the suit again Edward HARRELL 5 Dec 1894 and was listed as
being 18-21 years of age. I found a birth registered on 9 Dec 1894 with
the following info:
Female, white, Father's given name DORA; Mother's given name HALL, Bk
H7, Pg 22. No name given to the baby.
I feel the above is the baby born to Dora Hall. On Dec 14, 1894 Dora Hall
failed to show up for a court hearing "on account of sickness". On Dec
24, 1894 documents are filed to attest that provision to her satifaction
has been made for the support of the child.
In the 1900 census Dora's mother is remarried and living in Howard Co.
with her husband Linzey SALLEE and her two sons, Frank and Thomas B. and
her father, Abraham ROSS.
I can find no other mention of Dora and/or her child. I've been unable to
find a marriage or census listing of them. If anyone has any connections
to the HALL, ROSS, SALLEE, DOBBINS surnames, I'd sure appreciate any clues
you could give me.
And thank you so much, Phyllis, for posting that legal document.......even
though it is driving me crazy.
