Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Shelbers,
Phyllis and I have come up with a plan to keep track of all of our
researchers for Shelby County surnames. Whether you are listed on the web
site as a researcher or not, I would like for you to send me an e-mail with
the following: In the subject line, I would like for you to put your full
name, a hyphen, and the surname you are researching. In the body of the
e-mail, I would like for you to repeat what you put in the heading and add
your contact information (such as address, phone, e-mail address) that you
want to share with others. E-mail this to me at mmweaver1864(a)sbcglobal.net
so that I can put into a special folder. If any of the information should
ever change, please contact me at the same address to let me know so that I
can update your information. We would also like for you to make sure that
we have the info on the web site for others to contact you. We are trying
to make it easier to keep track of people because e-mail addresses do change
and people do move. Please DO NOT respond to this e-mail because it will be
archived. This way we can keep down the clutter.
Thanks,
Melinda

Joseph A. Donica b. abt 1826 in Hawkins Co. TN is buried north of the Old
Shelby Manor. He died at the Poor Farm or what the Manor was called then. I
believe it is on 500 South, visible from South SR 9. Lucy (Rutherford)
Donica (1832-1897) is buried at Winchester Cemetery on the west side of SR 9
south of Wilson's Corner where Lewis Creek Baptist Church and Cemetery are
located. Joseph A. and Lucy Donica m. 11 July 1849 in Shelby Co. IN.
(Later, the Tindall Cemetery on South SR 9 just east of the Woodridge Addn.
on 250S in Shelby Co. IN, served as a "potter's field" of Shelby County, but
no Donicas are there.) Joseph A. was one of 6 children of William Donica,
supposedly an Irish immigrant who married a German woman. Lucy was the
daughter of Robert and Mary (Mitchell) Rutherford m. 05 Aug 1823 in Gallatin
County, KY. Let me know if you want the data I have on the Donica Family.
Katherine Margaret Chesser (1900-1976), dau. of Ira and Daisy (Law) Chesser
m. Daniel Boone Donica (1898-1952), a grandson of Joseph and Lucy Donica.
Daniel Boone and Margaret (Chesser) Donica are both buried at Winchester
Cemetery. They had 4 children. The oldest of 4 children was Daniel Boone
Donica Jr. b. 1927 d. 1986, and he married Betty Louise Brown. They had 5
children. Daniel Boone Donica Sr.'s parents were George Washington Donica
(1872-1964) and Mary Florence Raper (1880-1953) m. 03 June 1896 in Brown Co.
IN and they are both buried in the Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery. They had 6
children. I have a lot more on this family. Let me know which line you'd
like to know more about. I'd be glad to help.

Potter's Field in this instance is referring to the County Farm (poor farm). Joseph Donica is buried there.

I have read all the Imel obituaries (some of them I have requested) and am wondering now if anybody can find an obituary for my great-grandfather, George John Imel, born January 29, 1876, and died in Shelbyville on October 4, 1949. He was married to Nellie Muriel Woods and had three children, Hugh Imel, Albert Edgar Imel, and Margaret Caroline Imel (my grandmother).
Thank you so much!
