Did anyone ever identify the photo of Lillie May BENTLEY, child lecturer?
Looking at 1900 census, in Shelbyville, there is Rev. R.M. BENTLEY. His
wife is Melinda, born 1861, has given birth to 10 children, 7 living. There
are only 6 children in the home, the oldest born 1884. All of the children
were girls, Eva, Grace, Constance, Nellie, Trilby and Bernice. In 1910, the
head is listed as Rolland M BENTLEY. In 1920, Tillie BENTLEY, 58, could be
Melinda, living as one of many boarders in the Wm L GREEN home. Someone on
the BENTLEY genforum mentions this family, and in particular, Constance,
who m Clyde BATES.
Looking at 1880 census, this may very well be the same family, with
Lillie being the only child then, age 2.

Cathy,
I would very much like to see those photos. A lot of my ancestors were in
Shelby Co., and some of those people may or may not be related.
Thank you.

I have put together 2 pages of old family photos. The first one is of photos that were not labeled with a name. The second page is of photos that were labeled, but I can not figure out how they connect to my family.
My best guess on surnames would be Sills, Dine , Fraker , Fricker , Stanford , Stewart , Wells or other names that married into those lines. I'm also guessing that they were mainly in Indiana.
If you would like to see them, please e-mail.
Thank you
Cathy

A family tree has recently been posted to Ancestry.com on Creighton Durell
Patterson. No point of contact and no date when it was submitted. I would like
to correspond with the individual who is related to Creighton D. Patterson.
I am of the opinion that he is related to my husband's ancestor. Perhaps we
can swap info.

I’m looking for information about the family of Michael & Malissa Hill who came from North Carolina. In the 1860 census they are in Hancock Co. with daughters Rachel, Delphina and son Alonzo. There is a Michael Hill who enlisted as a private in F Co., 70th Infantry on July 23, 1862. I’m guessing he died in the Civil War as Malissa married Samuel Jones Oct. 8, 1868 in Shelby Co. In the 1870 census Samuel and Malissa are living in Marion Twp. in Shelby Co. Right next door are Rachel and Delphina. Another neighbor is Milton Hill and his wife Elizabeth (Dean). I suspect Milton was a brother of Michael. By now Rachel has married Alfred Colclazier (who in 1870 was out in Iowa working close to his Uncle Philip Colclazier’s farm. In Rachel’s obituary she is listed as the daughter of Samuel & Malissa Hill. I’m wondering if this is a confusion with her step father or that Michael may have gone by Samuel. Any help will be appreciated!!!!
